Summary

Highly experienced and accomplished senior-level expert in ICP-OES/MS with over 20 years of experience in academia. Demonstrated expertise in sample preparation techniques and the accurate elemental analysis of diverse sample types. 2001 – present
 

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Faculty of Agriculture, Rehovot, Israel. The Scientific Service Core Facility, ICP-OES/MS Service and Research Laboratory. Position: ICP-OES/MS Laboratory Manager.

 

 Responsibilities:

  • Setting up and maintaining ICP-OES/MS instruments

  • Managing lab personnel, providing customer support, and handling technical assistance

  • Sales and procurement activities with vendors and suppliers

  • Custom assay development for various sample types

  • Validation of analytical methods in compliance with GLP, including protocol writing

  • Analysis result presentation and report writing

  • Development of automated data calculation methods

  • Training and supervision of junior ICP analysts

  • Lecturing University students in analytical chemistry (Hebrew and English)

  • Initiating lab website construction and establishing a collection of historical scientific equipment.

 

Methods: Microwave-assisted acid digestion of samples. Hot block digestion and dry combustion. Optical Emission and/or Mass Spectrometry (quantitative analysis of chemical elements in different samples), flame photometry (quantitative analysis of alkali and alkaline earth metals), argentometry (quantitative analysis of chloride), potentiometry (measurement of pH and assessment of EC25), gravimetry (water TSS and TDS determinations by standard methods). Capable of working with EA, HPLC, FTIR, UV-visible spectrophotometry, XRF.

1997 – 2001
 

Soil and Water Institute, Volcani Research Center, Beit-Dagan, Israel.

Position: Research Assistant. Responsibilities: Collection of soil, plant and water samples; performing the basic chemical analysis of the samples (water and organic matter content in soil, pH, EC25 and Total Organic Carbon (TOC); K and Na flame photometry in liquid samples. Setting up and maintenance of TOC analyzer (Skalar Ltd, Netherlands). Data analysis and presentation. Maintenance of the greenhouse and experimental work in the field.

Professional training, publications, scientific activity:

Attended various international and domestic training courses on analytical techniques, equipment, and method validation. An extended list of scientific publications (14 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 8 of them as a first author), oral and poster presentations at international and domestic meetings.
